jane rea, registered clinical counsellor

On a personal level, I am most grounded when I’m outside — biking through the city, camping under big skies, or wandering forest trails with no real plan except to breathe. Nature is where my mind settles and my nervous system remembers it can breathe.

I also foster and rescue dogs, which has become one of the most unexpectedly meaningful parts of my life. Caring for animals with their own histories of fear and longing has shown me, again and again, how attachment and trauma shape all beings — and how connection, patience, and gentleness create the conditions for real safety.

And when I’m not working or adventuring, I’m spending time with my people — my family, my close friends, the small circle of humans who let me be my full, oddly human self. They’re my grounding, my laughter, and my reminder that we heal through connection, not perfection.
