Therapy for Adults Who Want More Than Insight in Vancouver, BC

You can see your patterns clearly and still feel powerless to change them. I work with adults who are tired of understanding why they keep ending up in the same relationships, the same emotional spirals, and the same distance from themselves—and who are ready for the part where it finally starts to feel different.

Drawing on over 10 years of experience in social work, mental health, and counselling, I help people navigate relationship struggles, emotional overwhelm, and the patterns that keep them stuck—so they can reconnect with themselves and build more fulfilling lives.

What Brings People Here

attachment + relationships

You might find yourself overthinking every interaction, replaying conversations in your head, or wondering why relationships seem to affect you so deeply. Maybe you're tired of feeling "too much," getting stuck in the same patterns, or worrying that you'll eventually push people away. Together, we can explore what's happening beneath the surface and help you build more secure, trusting relationships—with others and with yourself.

neurodivergence

Maybe you've spent years feeling different, overwhelmed, or like everyone else received a manual you somehow missed. Whether you're newly diagnosed, questioning, or simply trying to understand yourself better, therapy can be a space to explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment. Together, we can work toward greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and ways of living that actually fit who you are.

trauma

Sometimes the past continues to shape how we feel, relate, and move through the world long after the original experiences are over. You may notice yourself getting stuck in the same emotional reactions, relationship patterns, or beliefs about yourself despite your best efforts to change them. Together, we can explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion while helping your nervous system process experiences that may still feel unresolved.

self-abandonment

Do you spend so much energy worrying about other people's needs, feelings, or expectations that you've lost touch with your own? Many of the people I work with are exhausted from being the strong one, the responsible one, or the person who always keeps things together. Therapy can help you reconnect with yourself, understand the patterns that keep you stuck, and create relationships that feel more balanced and fulfilling.

OCD + intrusive thoughts

Living with intrusive thoughts can feel terrifying, confusing, and exhausting. You may spend hours trying to figure out what your thoughts mean, seeking reassurance, or worrying that something about you is fundamentally wrong. Therapy can help you develop a different relationship with these experiences so they no longer have to take up so much space in your life.

MY APPROACH

The longer I do this work, the less interested I become in what's wrong with people and the more interested I become in understanding how they learned to survive. The thoughts, emotions, and patterns that feel frustrating, confusing, or self-defeating often developed for a reason, even if they're no longer serving us.

Therapy is a space to approach those experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, helping you understand yourself differently and create lasting change.

ABOUT ME

I'm Jane, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and social worker who knows that people are often far more nuanced than the labels, diagnoses, or stories they've been given. I created Oddly Human Counselling because I am drawn to the messy, confusing, deeply human experiences that don't have simple explanations. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a therapist who is warm, genuine, and easy to talk to, someone who can sit with the hard stuff while making room for honesty, humour, and real connection. If you’d like to get a sense of who I am and how I show up in this work, you can read more here.
